Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim
Cuadro Gallery presents a solo exhibition of new work by Emirati artist Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim. The artist’s works shed light on the contemporary disconnect from nature and reveal a fascination with the prehistoric. Increased urbanisation in the UAE gives the banal materials he uses in his sculptures a transformative impact, making them appear lofty, rarefied and organic, as though they were natural forms that he has illuminated, rather than created. Indiscernible, they carry vague impressions of recognisable objects – bird feeders, fishing traps, totemic monuments, even limbs.
Cuadro’s curated exhibitions provide audiences with an opportunity to experience different approaches and styles of art. Cuadro’s Education Programme consists of lectures, workshops and panel discussions and the Residency at Cuadro offers a select group of artist’s studio space in the UAE.
