Sotheby’s season in Dubai is launching with eclectic highlights from their auctions across the globe – ranging from myriad rare and historical objects from the Islamic world and exquisite Orientalist paintings to cutting-edge Modern and Contemporary canvases by the most sought-after Middle Eastern artists. Highlights to be unveiled include a rare painting by icon of Iranian modernism Bahman Mohasses and ornate Indian jewellery. The exhibition will be accompanied by educational events, workshops and lectures. including a talk by Dr Houman Sarshar on the Art of Collecting.
Sotheby’s Dubai gallery space and office officially opened in March 2017. Located in the Dubai International Financial Centre, it presents an expanded programme of year-round events, including selling and non-selling exhibitions, events and talks, reflecting the spectrum of Sotheby's international sales and extensive client services. Sotheby’s team of experts in Dubai offer local residents weekly complimentary valuations of their gems and jewels. The valuations take place every Tuesday from 13:00 – 17:00.
