Towards Dubai 2020 – Architecture in a Transient City
Dubai’s skyline today offers a wide panorama of architectural works, from hi-scale landscape interventions to small size projects, designed by the most renowned world-famous architects. Those projects are radically transforming the urban landscape.
The exhibition shows a selection of projects designed during the International Workshop of Architectural Design Towards Dubai 2020: Architecture in a Transient City, held at d3 Dubai Design District 3-11 November 2017 organized by Al Ghurair University in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Sapienza University of Rome. Students of architecture and interior design from several European universities worked together with local students of the Bachelor in Architecture of Al Ghurair University, to foster a shared design vision.
The workshop goal was to find appropriate solutions to reconnect the fragments of the city’s fabric, solving the contradictions generated by the current urban sprawl caused by the rapid and uncontrolled recent growth.
Curated by Tiziano Aglieri Rinella and Ruben Garcia Rubio.
