Viewings of Modern & Contemporary Art, Important Watches and Mahmoud Saïd’s Salon

Christie’s is delighted to present this season a wide selection of more than 160 works of art, that showcase the very best of Modern and Contemporary Art from the region. Highlights include a six metre long seminal masterpiece by Ismail Shammout capturing the plight of the Palestinians and an unprecedented group of works by Egyptian master Mahmoud Saïd. Christie’s is proud to be one of the sponsors of the publication of much anticipated Mahmoud Saïd catalogue raisonné, published by SKIRA and edited by Dr. Hussam Rashwan and Valérie Didier Hess. To celebrate its launch, Christie’s has borrowed 12 paintings by the Alexandria master from private and institutional collections in the UAE to showcase them in a unique ‘salon’.

Founded in 1766, Christie’s is the leading international auction house, selling multi-category artworks, furniture, photographs, watches and jewellery across twelve sale sites globally. Christie’s launched in Dubai in 2006, located in the Dubai International Financial Centre. Christie’s Dubai organises bi-annual sales of Modern and Contemporary Arab, Iranian and Turkish Art and Important Watches, that take place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in March and October.
