Protectors of the Nation: Sacrifice and Giving
Under the management of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Etihad Museum presents an exhibition celebrating the UAE’s Armed Forces. The exhibition charts the formation of the nation’s military, whose history parallels the unification of the UAE and the nation’s evolution ever since. It also explores the many skills required of a modern armed force, as well as the most essential ingredient — the men and women who are willing to dedicate themselves to a life serving their country and others. Visitors will learn about the UAE's leading efforts to consolidate and spread tolerance, brotherhood and positive values that enhance community happiness across the world. The exhibition is managed by Dubai Culture’s Dubai Museums Company and was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Defense, the General Command of the Armed Forces, the Military History Museum and the National Archives.
This iconic and unique 25,000-square metre landmark in the Jumeirah district of Dubai has opened beside Union House – where the agreement establishing the United Arab Emirates federation in 1971 was signed. The entrance to the Etihad Museum’s new permanent pavilion is designed in the shape of a manuscript, with seven columns that emulate the pens used to sign the 1971 agreement. The identity of the museum is also inspired by the colours of the UAE national flag, the federal identity and the seven emirates. The Etihad Museum exhibits the story of the nation’s development from pre-union to more recent times. Its aim is to become a cultural beacon to educate the UAE’s citizens, residents and visitors about the country’s modern history - including the rapid pace of development that has taken place and its grand achievements along the way.
