Sinyar Gallery presents a joint art exhibition bringing together works by Emirati artist Salma Al Marri and Syrian artist Dr. Suheil Baddor, titled Sonar 2. The two artists have previously had a joint exhibition in 2012 called Sonar 1. The exhibition highlights what these artists have come to through their rich experience of over 30 years. Salma Al Marri’s work combines painting and relief, using acrylic colours in a comprehensive style. Her subjects revolve around sentimental topics. Dr. Suheil Baddor’s work revolves around music and the woman through painting with acrylic and sculpting bronze.
A new gallery with an Emirati administration was inaugurated in November 2016 in d3. Deeply rooted in the Emirati culture, nothing else can communicate the real meaning of teamwork more than the name (SINYAR). For centuries, before oil, captains who lead pearl diving voyages opted to venture on the high seas in groups for safety, collaboration, shared knowledge and experience. This is the tradition of SINYAR, the word that Emiratis still use to describe successful teamwork.
