Dubai Pop-Up – Architecture in a transient city
This exhibition curated by professors Tiziano Aglieri Rinella and Ruben Garcia Rubio show a selection of projects designed during the international workshop of architectural design Dubai Pop-Up: architecture in a transient city, held at d3 Dubai Design District from 3 – 10 March2017, organised by Al Ghurair University in collaboration with some international academic partners.
Students of architecture and interior design from several European universities worked together with local students from Al Ghurair University. The project’s goal was to find appropriate solutions to reconnect the fragments of the city’s fabric, solving the contradictions generated by the urban sprawl caused by rapid and uncontrolled recent growth. In a city in rapid and constant transformation, these new urban facilities should be flexible, transportable and adjustable, conceived as flexible structures able to deal with diverse contexts and conditions. The projects are envisioned for two sites: Deira and the new extension along the Creek of the Dubai Design District.
Al Ghurair University (AGU) aims to excel as a premier university in the Gulf and provide affordable, high quality education to the men and women from diversified nationalities by offering programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels.
