You think of trade, and maybe you think of economics and trade deals and exchange rates. But there's so much more, culturally, intellectually, creatively.
We build up new maps of knowledge by bringing art adjacent to history, anthropology, science, music. Secondly, we have an expanded approach to geography that starts with our location, in Dubai, and then keeps zooming out, to the Gulf, the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and so on, equally looking for ways in which places are thought of through their connections rather than their differences.
Dubai and the UAE have been historic trade hubs for centuries if not way longer. Trade has been at the heart of societies, from pearls to oil to shipping logistics and the region's largest stock exchange. This is reflected in the diversity of food, cinema, hair grooming, architecture. Trade may have brought people here, but, once here, those same people give rise to a cornucopia of cultures that become entirely its own thing.
